The Grammar of Being Well

Love
All that teaches you to expect, and
all that teaches you to think 'it must happen' or 'I cannot live without it'—
whoever has not learned to live today by ignoring all of that,
their sorrow never ends.

I have seen it in my own life:
what you cling to only brings you pain,
and yet even without binding yourself to it,
by simply acknowledging it, you find peace.
If you won't let go, can you ever truly keep anything?

What once left me wounded and bleeding,
on the condition that I never do it again—
even then, you can love, you can fall in love and still be well.

Because love has no grammar,
you must arrange love within the grammar of being well.
But-if's other name is sorrow.
