When You Love Someone

When you love someone, you love them every day, even every moment. There's no room here for other thoughts; you love them in their good times as you do, and in their difficult times you love them a little more.

Everything about them pleases you. When you praise them, how they immediately blush with embarrassment, when they laugh too hard, how their voice becomes hoarse—all of this delights you. They listen carefully to all your little details, saying or asking whatever comes to mind immediately. You find joy in watching all of this.

But they make mistakes too, quite often. Perhaps they've muddled up some matter completely, their mind is scattered for some reason, but they're not telling you anything. Then you'll think, why are they acting like this? Why are they hiding from me? Don't they trust me? Various thoughts will come to your head, suspicion will gradually take root in your mind.

Sometimes, you become so busy that you simply cannot find time for them. Perhaps you were supposed to go somewhere together, but due to lack of time you cancelled the plan at the last moment. They'll then think that perhaps your regard for them is diminishing.

Misunderstandings give birth to small conflicts. And when these conflicts cause two people to stop talking to each other altogether, that terrible silence creates thousands of questions in the mind, to which the mind itself provides wrong answers. This increases the distance further. And it keeps growing. Many problems could be solved by talking, but the mind simply won't allow talking then!

Though falling in love is easy, keeping that love alive properly is very difficult. Falling in love with someone doesn't mean you have to call them constantly, go on dates every other day, or shower them with gifts. Rather than all this, sometimes let them be as they are, give them some time and space to spend with themselves; and most importantly, remain waiting for them. After spending time with themselves, they will surely return to you.

When life becomes difficult, give each other time, retell the old stories. When you both fell in love with each other, what did you think about one another then? What do you think now? Have such conversations. When their heart is heavy, even if they say many harsh things to you, stay by their side then. They need your companionship very much. Hold them close and sit quietly beside them; silence itself resolves many problems.

Don't let go of the hand of those you love. Stay beside them in their times of suffering. There's no shortage of people who leave; there's truly a great shortage of people who stay.
Sit beside the person, listen together to their favorite song or instrumental piece. Whether you stay beside them in good times or not, definitely stay in bad times. When everyone else leaves, only the one who remains is truly a friend. No one remembers fair-weather friends, but people remember foul-weather friends for life. Celebrate their success just as you would, and together handle their failures too.

Nothing more than this—because you love them, never leave them, whatever may happen—unless it endangers your own existence!
