Some desires are nothing but foolishness. You want a working wife; and yet you want her to keep your house exactly as you please, to cook your meals without fail. You want a housewife; and yet you want her, while managing all the cooking and housekeeping, to earn a little money on the side. You want a wife of impeccable propriety; and yet you want her to stay silent even when you behave however you wish, taking advantage of her decorum. You want a wife who speaks her mind, who is bold; and yet you want her to rise when you say rise, sit when you say sit, to keep her voice low even when she sees injustice. You want a beautiful wife; and yet you want her to silently endure it when you burn her with the fire of jealousy to mask your own insecurity. You want a wife of strong character; and yet you want her to be as soft and delicate on the inside as she appears gentle and graceful on the outside. You want an emotional, timid sort of wife; and yet you want her to walk the world's path alone, without needing your help. Where exactly is your real problem? You want to raise a rooster but expect it to lay eggs... how will that work? The simple truth is, no one in this world is perfect in every way. Are you yourself perfect? Then why do you demand perfection? People are as they are. If you can accept it, welcome. If you cannot, well, welcome too. But to accept someone knowing exactly who they are, and then demand something different of them—that is deception. No one is flawless. Here's the good news: if you wish to live beautifully, you don't need to be perfect at all.
