You-Mad

Still sleeping? Won't you wake? No more time to waste in slumber! Rise!
Look...how everyone waits in anticipation to bid you good morning!
When you break free from sleep's stiffness and open your eyes to morning's glow,
placing your first glance upon it, then a flock of birds in varied melodies
will wish you good morning! Don't forget to greet them back!

When you then turn to look at the lampstand
on the table beside your bed, you'll notice, in sweet fragrance,
in beauty's sacred radiance...a bunch of roses placed
on your writing desk saying...good morning! Remember to answer them too!

Then when you come and stand on the veranda,
you'll see this open sky, along with sunlight's gentle glow
saying to you...good morning! Don't turn them away!

Then when you return inside and stand near the door,
you'll see a messenger—a green envelope—greeting you good morning, saying...
What now! Still angry with me?
You know my head's been missing a wire or two for ages!
Must you stay angry with a madwoman like me?
If you won't understand this crazy girl, who will...hmm?
Don't stay angry anymore!

Away from your presence, nowhere else can
this utterly ordinary, tiresome madwoman
draw a single peaceful breath!
If you don't forgive her, who will, tell me?

O soul! Listen...see, what baskets of beauty I've brought for you!
Having nothing of my own, I borrowed from nature itself.
Won't you take them? Or will you keep me at distance, showing your anger?
O angry one! Are you listening? Here, look this way just once!

And so, to mend yesterday's quarrel, in new magnificence, glorious,
today's dawn places its familiar radiance as if to create anew
once more that noble invitation...this small woman,
who is utterly mad for you and ripened before her time for you alone...
wishes you...good morning!

Don't worry, you needn't return the madwoman's good morning greeting!
It won't make much visible difference!
She'll be back to pester you regardless of what you say!

Wondering why? Well...she's terribly mad for you!
Tell me, can such a you-mad girl ever
be kept away from you!
