Bengali Poetry (Translated)

You are no lover, you are man

Still you haven't recognized me, O lover-man!
Even now you cannot see your golden day's dream-wanderer!

Your mind's house still has broken walls,
and brown darkness clinging to the corners of rooms.
That's why you still cannot recognize me!

I am imprisoned in the hard cage of your denial.
I am your market-returned household goddess!
That very me you failed to know, lover!
I who witnessed all your love — that too is me alone!

Still you haven't recognized me, O lover-man!
I am the unsated fire of your million funeral pyres!
And again I am the peaceful shade of your sanctuary!

Only I know where to find the matchstick in your box of fears!
Only I seek the ring finger, clearing clouds from your solitary heart!
Even now you don't recognize me, do you, lover?
If you don't know me, then you are indeed a man,
but certainly no lover at all!

This is how love's boat will be lost...
searching for a golden boat!
You who are merely a man,
never a lover at all!
