Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Wrong Seeing

The first day I looked at you and smiled,
I thought you were someone else.
You smiled back at that smile.
And that very day, between two strangers,
the feeling that was born—
its name was love.

You fell in love with me
thinking I was someone else.
What I took you for
at first sight—
you may not be that at all.

Our two mistakes:
At first sight, we smile at what we misread.
At first smile, we give the wrong response.
