Today time seems frozen, oh what strange rapture of time itself,
I live in name alone, died long ago in the stillness of breath!
In such a moment as this, I place my humble proposal before you,
This time I wish to lose in this painted masquerade we're playing through.
Still I've been running for ages upon ages, keeping mirages ahead,
Tell me, will you return, will you come and quench this flame's spread?
I am not well, no longer in joy, no longer living at all,
Wring me dry, dress me in happiness, watering at your door I'll crawl.
Tell me, will you return, will you come again to your old beloved's side?
Who else will give you what I would give—does anyone else provide?
Will you return?
