The day you were alone with just yourself, the day you had not yet truly met your own self, no longing then for any path to anywhere, from this shore to the far shore sailing, that day, I know, there was no wind wailing heavy with tears and the breaking of bonds through the air! I came, and broke your slumber, in the void bloomed light's joy-flower! You raised me up, bloom by bloom, with skillful hands bringing me to full blossom, swaying me in soft, soft swells of endless forms, as if scattering me among the stars, then gathering me to your arms! You hid me away, pushing death aside, again and again finding me anew, as if for the first time! I came, and your heart trembled, I came, and your sorrow shifted, I came, and with me came fire-filled joy, that restless spring stirring life-and-death storms! I came, and so you came too, gazing into my face, receiving my touch, as if you had found your own touch at last! These eyes hold shame, this heart holds fear, my face seems always veiled and hidden here! Because seeing you brings such pain, tears fall from my eyes, O my lord, yet I know it is to see me that your boundless curiosity rises, or else all these suns and stars would be without purpose!
When I came
