You know,
I went to pick up the parcel you sent me.
Clouds have gathered across the sky today,
an odd tranquility in the air,
raindrops fell against my skin—
as if the poems found their completion in tenderness.
I know there's a book of poetry inside,
and I know you live in every page.
If I touch you gently—
will you love me back?
Every word in your letter
confesses our deepest love.
Trembling spreads through my chest,
I see your eyes reflected in my tears.
If you ever leave—
an endless emptiness will fill my heart,
every time... every moment.
Today a strange longing stirred deep in my mind.
I know you'll laugh when you hear this, but still I'll say—
about us,
whatever you keep on your wall,
reading those things makes my love for you
unconsciously deepen somehow.
It feels like I've given you
all of myself, unknowingly, without pause.
This longing won't fade,
it will stay pressed against my heart for life.
That's why I thought I'd tell you—
"If we ever meet again,
will you hold me close to your chest
and read something aloud to me?"
I know you recite beautifully.
That's why the longing is so strong.
I know these words
might seem childish to many,
but still I want—
for you to fulfill this wish just once…
in this one lifetime.
Yours,
Your little one
