# Wake Me Up I am lying in a dark room where sleep does not come easily, where shadows gather like old friends with their worn-out stories. Wake me up— not from this bed of thorns, but from the dream that I am awake. The morning light creeps through the window like a thief stealing hours. I count them: one, two, three— each one a small death. Wake me up— from this habit of breathing, from the pretense of being alive while the heart sits locked in its cage. Outside, the world turns in its sleep, indifferent. A bird calls. The city hums its mechanical lullaby. And I lie here, listening to the silence between my ribs. Wake me up— before I forget the taste of waking, before the dream becomes so perfect I choose never to rise again.

Wake me with your first words.
Your voice is like a honey-bell
stretched lazily between us.
As if in prayer, take me in your arms!

And do you know, I sank into oblivion...
into your heavenly eyes—those magic stars!
I felt myself not breathing, how deep my love was,
how passionately the warmest waves swept through me!
I wondered where I was, where I was,
were you beside me or was I merely dreaming?

Do kiss me and drink me sweetly,
so that in one breath I am ready to give myself to you.
In my hands I have fashioned your cherished dream-boat,
with you to soar toward wonderful worlds,
where it will be endless summer, without sorrow and pain,
on an island with shores of blue.

There to wake in your beautiful eyes,
let your voice caress me like gentle rain,
and at the world's edge, on an island of bliss,
to remain beside you and discover in you the utmost love!
