Bonsai of Thoughts (Translated)

Thoughts in Bonsai: One Hundred Twenty-Eight

1. When we suffer after making mistakes, when we pay the price for our errors,
those who stay beside us then, who don't abandon us even at that moment—
they are our friends.

2. Those I've always known as friends,
they too are turning into enemies one by one.
When I hear words of loyalty from their lips,
that's when I see bloodstains spattered on my own clothes!

3. Those who have learned to lose themselves in prayer,
they never lack enthusiasm.
Watching them, I wonder:
Has spring arrived then? Is this what love is called?

4. When desire's fire dies out, all happiness ends!
Better to keep that fire burning and keep happiness alive!

5. Sometimes, the very small incidents of life,
those that escape even the most careful notice,
to forget them costs an entire lifetime!

6. What takes years upon years to build
takes only a single moment to destroy.

7. Until your story entered it,
the whole tale remained incomplete!

8. The life you're not living,
someone else is surely living it well.
So there exists no life that isn't worth living.

9. When your heart takes its moments of rest,
if you can't find him even then,
how will you smile with sorrow hidden in the corners of your lips!

10. I know these burdens belong to those sins
of which you committed not a single one.
Yet even keeping all truths in mind,
how will you erase these stains from your reputation's body!

11. Life is short, I admit.
But isn't each moment as precious as a lifetime?

12. Where so much changes in mere fractions of time,
isn't it difficult to wait an entire lifetime
just to find life's explanation!

13. At day's end, not even the ashes of heartburn remain!
Then only one sorrow conquers the heart!

14. Seeing my anguish,
even God appeared,
yet...still your heart wouldn't melt!

15. That you simply
don't understand me—
it took me a thousand years
just to grasp this!

16. I carry so many words on the tip of my tongue that
I can't figure out
where to begin!

17. You tell me—
for you to come to me,
before whom must I go
and bow down?

18. Beloved, don't stop telling stories.
Because I love you,
even your stale tales feel fresh!

19. When sorrow comes, just keep laughing.
What greater revenge
could you possibly take!

20. In love's final chamber...
when the cup of poison is in the beloved's hand,
even that rivals nectar!
