Thoughts in Bonsai: Fifty-Nine

1. Yes, I am strange.
Wait,
someday you too will want to be strange.

2. Exhausted from stopping all wars,
I returned to myself.
Arriving, I saw the wars could have ended much earlier!

3. The more you make yourself hateful,
the more you waste my time.

4. I look beautiful to you
because I had been waiting.

5. The more people I see,
the more I understand
how easily humans forget this truth:
others are human too!

6. When you see me behaving normally,
assume my real power lies elsewhere.

7. If my acts of love weren't there,
you would have lost the chance to keep me in such pain long ago.

8. Stunning in beauty,
devastating in character!

9. I don't enter every war.
The war where my entry
only elevates the conflict—
in such wars, losing is the name of winning!

10. Sorrows are like water in the palm of your hand.
As time passes, the sorrow becomes invisible.

11. You were the one who always said you couldn't live without me!
That same you is still very much alive today!

12. Those who ease pain also want someone to ease their pain.
Those who work with great order also want to be surprised sometimes.
Those who give to everyone also want someone to give them something.
Those who think of everyone also want someone to think of them.
Those who are very kind also want to receive kindness.

Don't just keep expecting—
understand some expectations too.

13. Whatever is strange about me,
if you can accept it, take my hand.

14. To survive, you need to do only two things:
kill memory, turn yourself to stone.

15. Tell them,
some people are like wine—
the older they get, the more precious they become.

16. Sometimes you'll fight very good battles and still lose.
Sometimes without making any mistake, you'll have to bear the blame.
Still, accept it. Acceptance often keeps people well.
Even if you're not well, you'll escape some needless sorrows.

17. I am well,
but my heart wants to dwell in the shelter and care of another heart.

18. I'll open the door if I can breathe again.
I'll open the door if I can live again.

Don't knock if you're not willing to heal wounds.

19. Whenever I turned to face sorrow head-on,
I saw that same love had come again, just in different clothes!

20. What is sorrow, anyway?
Call it love!
