Bonsai of Thoughts (Translated)

Thought Bonsai: One Hundred Eight

1. Dawn
Little by little
the chains of sunlight
unlock themselves.

2. Think...
how night spreads itself
from star to star!

3. Life's provisions...
light travels
through dark tunnels.

4. Night falls...
and with it grows
the dreamweaving
of insects.

5. In the waiting room
shadows gradually lengthen
the crowded queues...

6. Against the river's body
faint mist...
in the eyes of embryos
dreams of birth-triumph.

7. When sun intensifies
all footprints
in the sand
fade away...

8. On each petal
of the rose
clings
my beloved's wounded pride.

9. One owl calls another
to night's festival.
And here, startled from sleep,
I call only to myself.

10. It's getting late...
perhaps every word
is your reflection...
who knows!

11. Even one who searches thoroughly
on the brightest full moon
and cannot find his own home
must, in the darkest new moon's light,
seek out another's toilet when pressed...

12. Curtains hung in the bedroom;
each wall seems...
between beloved and moon.

13. Winter trees
every day
little by little
expand the sky...

14. Shadows of leaves
sway this way and that,
dance to the flute's melody...

15. Small in knowledge,
large in faith—
quite skilled in ignorance!

16. Even if I speed up
this earth's rotation,
what will be seen before...
death?

17. In the spaces
between stars
lie fireflies' sanctuaries.

18. On the day of my funeral
even if all the flowers of earth
were brought to me,
what use...!?

19. From the airplane window
even tall buildings
are dollhouses.

20. Which page of which book
in my library
contains what...what doesn't,
the termites know it all.
