(On August 3, 2020, at 9 PM, I hosted a career discussion on my Facebook page Sushanta Paul (https://web.facebook.com/sushantaBappi/) about detailed preparation strategies for the Bangladesh Bank Assistant Director recruitment exam, featuring my dear student Anam Jamil, Assistant Director, Bangladesh Bank. At the request of examinees, based on that discussion, Anam Jamil has prepared this comprehensive guide on preparation strategies for the Bangladesh Bank Assistant Director position. I hope this piece will be extremely helpful for your preparation. Those interested can watch the full career discussion on my YouTube channel using the link below: I personally believe that if you watch the career discussion carefully and read the guidelines below with understanding, then study accordingly, you will definitely get the job as Assistant Director at Bangladesh Bank!) Bangladesh Bank (AD) Preparation: Bengali Before taking any bank exam, it's crucial to know which institution is conducting the recruitment test, as certain institutions have their own distinctive question patterns. For instance, the Arts Faculty's reputation for 'Bengali' questions is well-established. ★ In bank exams, most questions come from the grammar section. For this, you should read the complete Bengali book by George MP3/Professors. This book covers almost all topics from the ninth and tenth grade Bengali grammar textbooks. However, I believe the phonetics chapter should be read several times with understanding from the ninth-tenth grade Bengali second paper textbook. ★ In the grammar section, special emphasis should be placed on sandhi (sound junction), idioms, expressions in single words, compound words, case relations, proverbs and sayings, and synonyms—especially if the Arts Faculty sets the questions. After studying these sections from George MP3/Professors, you should read from Soumitra Shekhar's "Bengali Language and Literature Inquiries." The translations of proverbs and sayings in the translation section should be read from Soumitra Shekhar's book. These topics cannot be memorized in one or two days. Even if you do, you'll forget them. So you need to read a little each day and gradually absorb them. ★ For idioms + proverbs and sayings, Samar Paul's book should also be read at least once. The Arts Faculty naturally makes Bengali grammar questions difficult. This kind of preparation will be helpful in such cases. ★ For the literature section, I think you should read the literature portion of George MP3/Professors' Bengali book. However, those who feel that the vast literature section is impossible to remember should at least read the literary works of the great writers of Bengali literature. You'll find some common ground. (Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, Begum Rokeya, Jasim Uddin, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, Farrukh Ahmed, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Michael Madhusudan Dutt, Mir Mosharraf Hossain, Dinabandhu Mitra, Kayakobad, etc.). ★ After doing this work in literature, you can read some details from Soumitra Shekhar's book. I think it's essential to know the details of Charyapada and medieval literature. In this regard, the book "Bengali Language and Literature Inquiries" will be much more helpful. Book References: 1. George MP3/Professors/Agradoot Bengali/Shikhar Bengali 2. Ninth-tenth grade Bengali Grammar 3. Bengali Language and Literature Inquiries—Soumitra Shekhar 4. Samar Sen (read only proverbs and sayings) ★ If you're weak in any grammar/literature topic or keep forgetting it, instead of completely abandoning that topic, at least look at the previous years' recruitment exam questions on that topic... there's a higher chance of finding common questions... For general knowledge, there's no substitute for regularly reading Bengali and English newspapers. 2. However, Manna De's concise general knowledge book is very well-organized. Bangladesh Bank (AD) Preparation: Math What to do to become proficient in math for any bank exam: First of all, you need to remove from your mind thoughts like "I'm very weak in math" and "I don't like doing math." Remember, none of those who have taken exams and succeeded gained divine knowledge—they all reached this level through hard work. Some people have been very skilled in math from the beginning. They can grasp any math problem very easily. The reason is that they've given priority to math since childhood. Math was also on their list of favorite subjects. But that doesn't mean you should be discouraged. Focus on solutions rather than dwelling too much on problems. Only then will you see results. I've seen many students who were very weak in math. Many of them are now keeping pace equally with very good students. Analyzing their success reveals several factors: 1. You must focus most on basic math. 2. Before doing math from each chapter, you need to spend much more time thinking about the basics and examples of math, then try to do other math problems by yourself without looking at solutions. If you can't, then you can look at the solutions. 3. Review basic math several times. Especially those math problems you couldn't solve correctly the first time—see if you can now solve them on your own. #Some books to strengthen basics: I quite like Saifur's Math, though many also prefer Khairul Basic Math. For trigonometry, geometry, and algebra, I think ninth and tenth grade books are sufficient. Now assuming your basics are reasonably solid. But before going directly to advanced level, I'll suggest another intermediate-level book. Reading this book will truly benefit you. The book is Mentors' Math Q Bank. The book is mainly based on IBA's previous year questions. Those who have already participated in various exams all know that IBA questions are somewhat tricky. The questions won't be too difficult if you can catch their tricks. And this book will help you become familiar with those tricks. #Now I come to advanced level and written part: The 'national book' for advanced level is R.S. Aggarwal. And why shouldn't it be! It contains a huge number of math problems, including many complex problems that, if you can solve them, will greatly increase your skills. Many of us buy Khairul Advanced or Math Bible by Buetian as alternatives to R.S. Aggarwal. Both are good books. You can buy whichever writer you prefer. However, the new Math Bible has a much larger collection of websites. It also includes important chapters taken from ninth-tenth grade core books. Besides these, Arun Sharma's book "Quantitative Aptitude for CAT" is also well done. Now if you want to go a bit more advanced, that is, advanced tricks that make solving math very easy, if you're looking for such a book, you can look at Pearson's Quantitative Aptitude book. Most of the shortcuts that amaze you in books in our country can be found in this book. There are so many shortcuts here that you won't be able to manage them all. Shortcuts will help in preliminaries, but before learning shortcuts, you must ensure that you can do the math using basic methods. Otherwise, you'll definitely get caught. Where to study for written exams? If you complete R.S. Aggarwal's book, much of the written part will be done. That is, if you take 5 written exams, you can expect to solve at least 3 by reading this book. However, sometimes written exams include math problems that don't even match Aggarwal's. In such cases, you'll need to do website math problems. In my opinion, any student should do all math problems from at least these two websites: Examveda + Careerbless. And you must definitely do previous years' questions. Search all math problems on Google so you can get an idea of which websites the math comes from. Now you might ask, you've suggested so many books—which one should I read? Look, what I've said comes from my experience. Many are succeeding everywhere by doing only Aggarwal, while many aren't succeeding even after doing everything. It actually depends on your math level. When a doctor prescribes medicine for a disease, some people need a very mild dose, while others need something strong. Which book and how much mental development you're getting depends on whether you need to read more books. Some people have strong basics, so even when math is twisted and turned, they can easily find answers. Others don't have that ability. In such cases, doing more math will help you when similar math appears in exams. To understand how much you're growing, sit with previous years' questions from banks. This is especially necessary for written math problems. Now you'll understand whether you need to do math from other books or not. Book References: 1. 9th-10th grade books 2. Saifur's Math 3. I have divided the English section of bank job preparation into three parts:
1. Grammar
2. Vocab+Others
3. Written
1) First, let me discuss the Grammar section:
*) Cliffs TOEFL is the fortress of English grammar. Its importance cannot be overstated. Many of you may have already read this book. If not, make sure to go through it.
*) Once you’ve finished Cliffs TOEFL, get Peterson’s TOEFL and thoroughly study the Clause and Inversion sections. Whatever anyone might say, there’s no substitute for this book when it comes to understanding clauses properly.
That covers basic grammar. Now let’s move to a more advanced level.
*) Advanced grammar essentially means solving Sentence Correction problems. To excel in this section, you absolutely must have your basics clear. There are many SAT/GMAT books for Sentence Correction. However, if you jump into these books right from the start, you might lose interest in studying. A better option for you would be to read Zakir Hossain Sir’s “The Anatomy of English Sentence.” This book discusses 32 rules that are highly effective for solving Sentence Corrections. Additionally, numerous exercises are provided later, which will give you a solid understanding of Sentence Correction.
*) Once you’ve mastered Sentence Correction from here, you can practice extensively with Barron’s SAT.
– This includes a Diagnostic Test plus 5 more Practice Sets, which, if understood and practiced well, will largely clarify this section.

**) Beyond this, you can also practice from the following link:

*) While working on Sentence Correction, don’t forget to solve Pinpoint Error questions as well.

2) Vocabulary & Others:
*) The best book for vocabulary is Word Smart 1&2. This book contains over 1500 words that will be useful in any examination.
*) If you find the English version difficult, you can also get Saifur’s Vocabulary book. However, I would recommend the English version.
– While reading Word Smart, make sure to learn the main words with their spellings. AUST sometimes tests spellings directly from this book.
*) Additionally, for Sentence Completion, you can practice from the following links:

CracSat Link:

Examveda Link:

*) Next, let me address Spelling, One-Word Substitution, Preposition, Group Verbs, etc.
– These are mainly subjects for memorization. For these topics, the currently best book in the market is MASTER by Jahangir Alam. This is an exceptional book from which you’ll find most questions as common. You can also read “English For Competitive Exams.”
– You can also practice the grammar sections from these books, which will teach you many things.
3) Written:
Focus Writing:
1. English A2B
2. Unique English Essay
Translation:

2. Mahid’s Sompadokiyo.

যদিও অনেক বই। কেনাটাও অনেক বড় অংকের টাকার ব্যাপার৷ তবুও কিনে পড়ে শেষ করতে পারলে ব্যাংকে জব হবে এবং বিসিএসও হয়ে যেতে পারে। তবে বিসিএস এর জন্য অতিরিক্ত করে কিছু পড়তে হয়।
Thanks a lot
