Bengali Poetry (Translated)

The Touch That Soothes All Pain

How I long to touch you.
Once, to touch you deeply—
a touch that through the body reaches the soul itself.

Once I want to kiss you,
a kiss that will make you forget
caste, creed, color, honor, pride, illusion…

You will shed your body as you shed clothes to embrace;
then I will become one with a pure soul.
That day you will know—
these hands are yours, these eyes are yours, this heart's nectar is yours!

You will know lotuses bloom in this breast for you,
this fragrance, this life is yours alone.
This is how I will touch you once,
then freeze like Antarctic ice, beyond human touch.

A touch that dissolves all suffering—
I will be such a lap of peace for you.
Whatever weariness you carry, I will take it away
and hold you close.
