Bengali Poetry (Translated)

The Raag of Waiting's Shadow

Just to remain close to you—
I wove spells from words,
kept in my lifeless mind
quiet consolations of feeling.

In clusters of words written with heart's ink
a secret voice had awakened,
they touched with startling clarity—
your very pseudonym.

Across pages I searched only for
my sighs,
what they had drawn in faded colors
was merely your mockery.

You had given me
a longer name for waiting,
in that name I remained lost for ages upon ages.

Meeting again in another birth—
with you...in this life,
leaving this path, you must
never go away again.
