The Plaster of Thought's Wall (Part 80)

I saw her from a distance… She was
so “NICE FROM FAR”… Love at first sight! Oh! How thrilled I was!…
I went near to her and found, she was so “FAR FROM NICE”…..

27 April 2011

When a girl stares at you so
romantically, don’t always think she has fallen in love with you. Maybe, she is
trying to learn how romantically she should stare at a boy to make him think
so… Yes, it’s true!

….. My experiment with TRUTH
reveals this…

Don’t try to play smart before a
girl, maybe she is just learning how to play smarter before a boy… I’m sorry
to make you unhappy. But friends, believe me, it’s exactly what happens!!

……. Friend,
what else can I do, tell me—
there’s no way to experience,
so I’m compelled to experiment!……

………Friend,
I’m in a car now,
heading to Chittagong. A song is playing in the car, ‘Agar tum mil jao, zamana chhod deynge hum’ and the driver is driving at insane speed—I don’t know who he’s found that makes him want to abandon the world!
No matter how many times I tell him, he won’t understand that I have absolutely no desire to leave this world just yet,
I need more time!………Pray for me, friend!

…….. Friend,
thought is just thought—we make it constructive, and we make it destructive too. Anyway,
hearing about your hair falling out has me quite worried too. I think
you should stop making excuses about share markets and all that nonsense and see a good doctor. After all,
you’ll have to get married eventually,
right?
Where are we going to find a rich girl for you now,
tell me that!
And with all these high-minded thoughts you think,
not just your hair but your scalp shouldn’t remain either! So, think simple, be happy.

………Friend,
you’re asking me to remember too many things these days. We know
you had a desire to become a university teacher
(though you could have managed it with a little lobbying.)……. One of the most interesting things in the world is remembering girls’ names, and I can’t even do that—so how am I supposed to remember all these difficult things you say?……..And human curiosity has been pregnant ever since people develop the capacity to understand! The birth of interest, friend, depends on desire,
urgency, and necessity. I’ve temporarily constrained these dependent eyes when it comes to girls!!
……….Hahahahaha

experimenting and practicing you
mean.

…. Sir, it’s not what I mean but
rather it’s what others mean and like to mean.

29 April 2011

Will my wife be as happy as Kate
Middleton is now? Are all the brides so happy?…… (Facebook told me to share
what’s on my mind and I just couldn’t help sharing it! Sorry!!)

become a prince/king first.

…. Yes, I’ll be a king for my
queen

…. May all the brides be happy
forever.

…. Let me guess her happy now. At
least, it makes me happy.

And, if my princess is happier, I
must be happiest. That would be a grand marriage! God bless you with more power
of good foretelling!!

I’m really impressed at the gorgeous
yet simple blend of this royal marriage!! It’s good enough to persuade you to
marry!!

….. Masima, why the brides become
wives if such transformation makes them unhappy? Better for them to stay brides
forever, and be happy.

….. There lies an extraordinary
couple in every ordinary couple. And, just being simple can make you gorgeous.
You needn’t be gorgeous to be really gorgeous. That’s the law of marriage, I
think… Anyway, let us wish them Good Luck!!

…. Well, your idea is nice. And,
the nicer matter is, I’ll never marry the girl who is happy only with things
like those. Let her marry those things, not me.

How long they stay? No buddy, it’s
not a nice thing to think about. I don’t know whether things will be really
nice for them, but I sincerely wish them to be so. Such marriages often become
just BIG shows on earth. Past tells us so. Hope, this time future will make the
scenario worth it.

…. Then, I’ll be the happiest
person!!

…. Thank you, brother, for reading
my posts and updates. I just added an apology for those who might take my sense
otherwise.

…. You’re too good and cho chweet,
dost. Hope, you’ll have a fatafati wife.

….. It’ll be really so heavenly to
be a prince to her.

….. I’m not supposed? Well. Then,
I think, I must!!

To forget by letting remain — that is not forgetting at all… yet people wish to forget, perhaps through the very ruse of remembering! Who knows!

… Just keeping aside of the mind,
it’s not that forgetting… Yet, people try to forget, maybe only for stirring
the memories! Who knows!

Who knows….
realities made memories… or wanting memories created reality…. Who knows

Hmm… You’ve developed ‘who knows!’
symptom very well. That’s good! If it’s really a reality, who knows, perhaps
you’re going to have some memories to recall!

yes…. I made memories so I can
remember the yeah Who knows ))))

5 May 2011

Not all questions can be answered.
Not all answers should be questioned…. Follow this, be happy.

… I don’t know much about Nirvana.
Is it the core thing of Nirvana? I don’t know. From my own experience, I’ve
found that it’s a better rule to follow to be happy and so I’ve shared it with
my friends.

…. Thank you for your sharing. You
thought it was my wall. It’s ok as it’s really my wall, just it’s what they
call comment thread. Still it remains a wall. So, you’ve done the right thing
in a different way. Anyway, one of my friends informed me of the date over
phone just today. My mid-term exams are going on and so I can’t concentrate
much on BCS preliminary exam. Hope you’re doing well. Wish you a Good Luck!!

…. No side is safe. What we’ve to
do, is to make our side safe.

…. Congrats on your joining a new
job. Wish you professional excellence. But what arena are you stepping
forward?… We’re on the same big boat in different cabins. You’re in a more
privileged one as I’m still wandering jobless. Hope your journey will be much
better than ever. And, you can bet in my favour? How? I myself even can’t! Your
words are so soothing, brother

…. Let me be provided at first,
brother!! It sounds just sarcastic till then!!

I’m planning to learn a foreign
language. Can anyone please suggest me a language (like French, Spanish,
German, Chinese or something else) that might add some extra value to my
career? Thanks.

First get married. Then whatever the
wife says, that’s it…….

……….. Brother,
did I tell you I’m going to marry a foreigner?

………………. Brother, that Nicaraguan girlfriend you have—doesn’t she have a little sister or something?

You don’t even know English, learn that first

What does ‘English’ mean?

French and Spanish.

I am advising you to learn French or Spanish because as a member of Apex UN committee on Tax matters, I know that there will be some very potential chances for Bangladeshi Revenue officers and these two languages will add value to it. These are added qualifications in entry exam.

Dear Sushanta,

Delighted to hear from you. Thank you so much. Since I teach, can suggest that you should learn Mandarin over French. The world is fast changing and China is driving that change, so learning Mandarin is a great idea. Shauli is joking of course. Women are very good at languages and had she wanted to, she would have picked up Mandarin as well as she has picked up Spanish…

How can I pardon myself if I’m the only person responsible for my present unhappiness?

Dhaka University is often called the Oxford of the East. I have yet to discover the reason for this comparison. If Dhaka University is compared to Oxford simply for physical structures—rooms, buildings, halls, towers—then I have nothing to say. Ahmad Chhofa, “Although He Is My Teacher.” I am myself a student of this university. The matter has already stirred in me a kind of inexperienced pride. Yet, on the whole, this hyperbole about the university strikes me as the manifestation of a pedantic mentality.

Please, speak with a little restraint. Your comment contains some exaggeration.

……. The power of wealth diminishes when the rich turn pauper.

…… In trying to harmonize, you’ve become terribly discordant.

……. Catch the tone of my words, not the words themselves. If someone makes ‘fun’ of my mother, my very existence becomes laughable. How can I accept that?

…….. And self-glorification.

…… Sir, in this case the university becomes quite apostate to its true nature.

……. But there’s a caveat here. Almost all of those distinguished personalities were products of different universities. And it seems they could not create worthy inheritors of their knowledge. The unworthy son of the worthy dims the glory of the worthy.

……. I completely agree, though Oxford’s learning heritage is what first comes to mind. Looking in that direction, one is seized by a kind of helplessness.

……. When echo abandons sound,
and surpasses it, what remains but helpless swimming in the silent ocean of cascading silence!

One of most interesting things that
doctors can, others can’t, is, they can read their own handwriting. Not
necessarily it means you’ve to think I’m a doctor.

Never judge the beauty of a lady
doctor by her handwriting.

My personal experience says, the
more you serve, the more you’ll be talked about. People hardly appreciate as
blaming is easier than appreciating. Doctors, lawyers, police & customs
officers are always vulnerable to such public condemnation. Just imagine of our
country keeping them aside. Can people really survive even an hour? No one
throws stones to a tree that bears no fruits. Cheers bondhu! We’re born to work
and live with tasty public resentment. The golden rule is, listen to all public
remarks, consider only few. If you want to consider everything you listen, you
better stop listening. And, last but not the least, my status contains no such
an issue to incite any kind of negative impression about doctors. It’s all
about innocent handwriting, man!

When I speak of seeing two extra patients,
if one of those two happens to be my mother,
then I have no objections at all. Where would I go, tell me!
Eating taro makes the throat itch,
that’s true. But the thing is, one must eat taro,
and one must scratch the throat. Hahahaha…..

Friend, I myself don’t expect such
loaded comments on such a harmless status. But if someone does make such a comment, it’s difficult to dissuade them too. We often forget that while others’ work is important to them, when we need it, that work becomes far more important to us than it is to them. One thing I’ve learned from my life:
when you eat chocolate,
you can never eat chocolate with your mouth open. Damn it,
when you’re eating chocolate, just eat it quietly,
don’t open your mouth.

My thought is,
brother, when you become a Government official,
you’ll understand how stereotypical comments feel!
If no one says a word about your good work, the very desire to do good work fades away. Brother,
everyone wants a little recognition. We’re none of us complete angels.

When someone judges you by what your
grandfather was rather than what you are, be sure that he is still living in
the age your grandfather lived. Now, it’s your choice whether you want to leave
him to live in the time alive or to stay with him to live in the time dead.

Must you die to judge how death is?

O God! Either make me comfortable
with remembering people’s names or make them comfortable with my forgetting
their names. Why am I gifted with an unpleasantly wonderful memory for
forgetting things?

That’s why I feel comfortable to
chat with friends on Facebook. It radically improves my memory of remembering
names.

I can pass this whole life just
enjoying only a sunset because such a sunset comes only once in our life.

Because when the sun awakes, I still
sleep.

Hardly there is crowd when the time
of departure comes. If there is, by chance, solitude still reigns. Loneliness
amidst crowd spreads, touches, and destroys itself. Moonrise just bears the
sweet memory and legacy of sunset. The greater submits itself to the great.

Age is advancing—let it advance!

But why is despair growing alongside it? Can anyone tell me?

Accompanying me are sorrows—of every hue, every manner. Sorrows in all shades. The sorrows are doing quite well!

What a collection!

Still, welcome, O sorrow!

It won’t diminish,
just change hands.
Out of the frying pan, into the fire!! Ha
ha ha…….

Nothing stays in memory,
my patience for reading has strangely diminished, thought itself is constantly ebbing—am I growing up? Or simply growing old?

are of 3 types:

~Some are married.

~Some are engaged.

……… Not all beautiful ladies

Dream like a dreamer,

Forget all old sorrows.

If on the journey someone reaches out to hold your hand,

Love them in your own way.

Happy Friendship Day — to those who have stayed beside me even while enduring my sweet and bitter mistakes. To those who have moved away, or are moving away. Today I remember so vividly one of my beloved people, Ritu didi, who was always there during my difficult days; who taught me that being alive itself is joy. Didi, may you recover in our love. May everyone be well, very well.

…….

Dream like a — dreamer,

Rue old griefs — never!

If a friend promises to be with you
— closer,

Let the candle of love burn now and
— forever!

I wish a Happy Friendship Day — to
you who have stayed beside me tolerating my sweet and sour mistakes. And also,
to you who have left or staying away keeping me aside. Today I remember very
dearly Ritu didi, one of my most favourite persons, who always stayed beside me
during my old days of trials & tribulations; who taught me, I’m
alive—it’s the greatest joy I can be blessed with! Didi, stay well with the
touch of my unconditional love.

Keep fine, superfine.

…… Even in the darkest night
there burns a candle to show you the path. I’d never believed a candle really
burns till I met you on Facebook. Yes, I truly mean it. You can’t imagine to
how many people I’ve told your name. If anyone asks me to tell only 5 names who
contribued the most in my life to be what I’m now (I hope you’ve not forgotten
that I stood 1st in Bangladesh Civil Service exam), your name comes in the 4th
place following the names of my parents and younger brother. Had there been a
word ‘BESTEST’, it would have used ONLY FOR YOU. God be with you and bless you
always.

Oh sush I’m so honored and so
humbled yes the universe works in the strangest way… I’m really glad to have
known you too little brother

Ritu didi….. At least one secret
of this strange universe I did learn from you….. Like attracts like.
Remember? Rhonda Byrne. Hats off!…. And, by this way, you changed the whole
way of my thought. There are too many other lessons you taught me. Can you
start sharing your life philosophy again? I miss those good old days. I really
don’t know how to express my gratitude. Since I read your last message, I
always pray and request others to pray for you. God bless.

Yes, we attract what we are and our

These days, as the number of acquaintances keeps growing, the number of friends keeps shrinking. I can’t quite figure out whether this is due to busyness, self-interest, or plain selfishness. Along with this has grown the torment of feigned sincerity—I inflict it, I endure it. Days pass through strange interactions. Friends become mere acquaintances, acquaintances don’t become friends. Being lonely in a crowd is both a joy and a sorrow.

……. And,
friends have started calling me ‘boss’,
but the bosses
don’t call me ‘friend’…..

……. When love grows intense, hurt becomes even more intense. A harsh truth!

It takes courage to answer a call,

It takes courage to give your all.

It takes courage to risk your name,

It takes courage to be true.

It takes courage to dare what no
other would share,

To be standing alone, one whom no
one will own,

To be ready to stake, to be loyal
not fake,

It takes courage to be true.

It takes courage to say what you
know will not pay,

To give each one a share though
there’ll be less to spare,

To be seeking no more than the
neighbour next door,

It takes courage to be true.

It takes courage to leave what good
fortune can give,

And to go to a land where the poor

To be spending one’s days in less

It takes courage to be true.

suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore to
love is to suffer, not to love is to suffer. To suffer is to suffer. To be

unhappy. Therefore, to be unhappy one must love, or love to suffer, or suffer

…….. Deliberate foolishness isn’t foolishness at all!;)

……. Why did I come? I was better off not returning!
The yearning to be free even knowing there’s no freedom,
as meaningless as it is intense. Yet this very yearning had kept me alive! Ah!
Why did I come?

……. “it is true that
in student life, geniuses rarely experience love and romance….because they don’t have time to spoil….”

—— What does this mean?
Is there enmity between genius and love? Does loving mean wasting time?
What are you saying, brother!

….. The more love grows,
the less affection remains.

…… a meaningless transformation
leaving behind a body of bone & flesh only! Ah! The IRONY!!

……. Alas!
Death of the poet. Birth of love. Unnatural death of affection!

Boys remain wayward until marriage;
and girls remain virtuous until marriage. This very contrast draws them to each other. The thought just occurred to me suddenly. Is this true? Well,
what’s the story after marriage?

……. Please kindly give me Goddess Lakshmi’s mobile number……. The moment the waiting ends, the journey of disappointment begins —– isn’t that so?
Hmmmm…..

…….. Tell me, what does the heart want….
Whoever I see, I find appealing…..

That’s exactly where the problem lies!!

………. I’m an idle man,
whatever I do,
I post it all on Facebook. If I get married, you’ll surely know. But that’s a long, long way off.

The state of mind of the married: Let it be, mother,
I’ll cry and survive. The state of mind of the unmarried: Hold me, mother, I’ll laugh myself to death.

……. What would you do with Goddess Lakshmi’s number?
Better get hold of Kartik’s number. Even giving him missed calls sometimes brings joy!
Ah!

…….. Hey brother, finally, before drinking poison, let me do a guinea pig test first. What else!

…….. Oh, what sorrow! How will these wayward boys make homes with wayward wives?

…… Why,
trial marriage has become quite common these days.

………. Spending life holding hands and quarreling……. I liked that phrase,
brother.

…… Are you
a ‘helpless boy’?
God bless!

(If you hadn’t shown this honesty in a public forum, your future would have been even more brilliantly bright!)

……. Get married, if only to have stories to tell.

…… Brother,
this life is terribly difficult, my friend; there’s no
Ctrl+Z option!

………. I’m currently in a Lakshmi-less stage. So my eyes are the eyes of one abandoned by Lakshmi. They might see wrongly!

……. Some marry, some get married, and some get eaten by marriage. It’s all
fate, brother.

………. What bliss there is in death,
must one die to understand it?

………… Sir,
when regret is inevitable anyway, let me just say “Durga Durga” and jump in! Borrowed spice?
That’s nectar! Ha ha ha……

……….. Ah,
if only lions could write,
then we might have known some heroic tales from the lion’s perspective too!

……… This means: to live a happy conjugal life,
while the presence of gentlemen among couples is necessary, the presence of gentle ladies is not necessary.

………… When people are alive, they marry. When they marry, they die. When they die, they realize they were alive and were well. Living itself is joy. There’s joy in dying too. So which way shall I go? Truly a matter of great concern!

……….Everyone just keeps watching. No one becomes a companion.

I love you. I was stunned just hearing it. What is this girl saying! I thought. I looked at her picture on Facebook. Then I thought again. No!
I could love her, but only as my own sister. Little sister. Such a sweet relationship. Nothing to be done!
But my new sister refuses to accept me as a brother. If necessary, she’ll murder me. What torment!
My crazy sister! I beg your forgiveness. And your prayers too.

O Earth!
Be torn asunder. I climb the tree!!

…… What I desire, I desire wrongly. What I receive, I do not want.

……. Had I become a BCS cadre, I would have done well,
I would have gotten all the married female colleagues. Then I would have understood how much grain makes how much puffed rice!

……. Big brother, it doesn’t feel enjoyable anymore, brother. Utterly worthless gentlemen keep proposing. I’m in great distress!

…… You’re absolutely right, Madam,
that wild girl looks like our villain Jumbo.

…… There’s no accounting in this love, brother,
this is unaccounted love!
Most painful indeed!

…… Big brother, you are an elder,
your command is to be obeyed! Tell me,
when will you arrange my marriage?

…. Brother, I feel honoured at
your interest in my writing. You can install Avro Keyboard on your device. Then
use Vrinda font to make the Unicode texts readable.

The current status is a sarcastic
one. This contains nothing thought-provoking. You can derive only a tickling
humour from it. Thank you once again for reading me.

….. You live in great comfort inside the bank, while I suffer so much in the civil sector.

….. Alas brother, having climbed the tree, you mock the people of the earth! Most pitiable indeed!

………. Madam,
one encounters the muse constantly; but not on boats, in the sun. Margarita, Shabnam
—- Alas! What enchantment,
what illusion,
what delusion!!
I feel like chewing up Sunil’s head,
Mujtaba’s! Alas!

…….. Urvashi?
Menaka? They can only be given shelter in the house,
not in the heart.

……. No loss, brother, rather there’s some immediate gain. Without understanding this calculation, I spent all these unaccounted years till now.

………. To forge bonds, one must first break free. That’s even harder!

Brother, speak softly, whisper in my ear. You too could be arrested on charges of inciting suicide. They’re lurking nearby!
The idea came from your own head, after all.

Sometimes it seems really difficult
to understand whether developing confidence is essential for success or success
is essential for developing confidence. It’s something that makes or unmakes
the total scenario. And, we all must pass through this transition period. So,
don’t worry. What you’re is what we were. Best of luck!

Unfortunately, most of the lovely
girls you have to like are the girls you don’t/can’t like to have. But why?
Because, ironically beauty stays where you think it shouldn’t. Any other
reason?

Beauty lies somewhere else.

Hardly beauty & merit match
together.

…… Irony of life!

…….. After all, I’m from the
fairy-tale, you know!

…… Never paint all the pictures
with the same brush.

It’s good to have that much
confidence.

Again, fairytale people can’t be
trusted, who knows when they would wish to return to fairyland!

………and it’s better to have a
friend like you who has every trust on my confidence.

Wow!! You sound to believe what I
claimed!! So sweet of you dear.

…… anchoring the cultural
evening arranged on the occasion of Farewell & Reception Program of some of
our senior officials at Custom House Auditorium, Chittagong.

…… No brother, I wasn’t singing at the event—I was doing anchorage!

Footnote: Anchor (নোঙর) + -ing == anchorage > nonsense.

A very touching prayer from a 5-year
little kid…..

Dear God, please send some clothes
this cold Christmas for all the ladies in my Dad’s laptop. Thank you……

Hello friends! Merry Christmas!!
Happy Holiday!! Cheers!!

moral of the story:

Such an innocent cute kid!! Children are dangerous, such dangerous creatures!

Leaving for Sylhet tonight to spend my weekend break. I’ll stay tomorrow and the day after. Tomorrow is Fakrul brother’s freedom-surrender day. I’ll see through his eyes the joy of becoming enslaved. (Oh, what bliss fills the sky and air!) Along the way, I’ll lose myself in that natural splendor where silence and quietude’s centuries-old duet makes one forget, makes one wonder. Wanderlust is humanity’s most primal, most authentic intoxication. Truly it is!

Wanderlust—my eternal love!! As if the entire world were my homeland.

…… and every woman in the world is my beloved.

Brother…… my
mother,
aunt, little brother are coming with me. No matter. Shawls-wraps-sweaters —- all that is there already.

You devil!!
Don’t dream so big!! Love-life isn’t an unlimited internet connection from Bangladesh, man!!!

……. friend,
there’s an
erotic erotic fragrance in your name. That’s why I showed you the dream.;)

28 December 2012

……. just explored the beauty of
Lalakhal & Ratargul Swamp Forest at Sylhet cruising by boat through the
river Sari with some of my senior colleagues…… Ancient serenity talks the
loudest while close to the lap of Nature! Mystery unveils here!! Such a
heavenly feeling!!

Not always you should think others
are wasting time if they enjoy their lives in a way unlike yours. Not
necessarily they’ve to be as you’re. There’s nothing called ‘everybody’s cup of
tea’. Maybe they also think you’re not living your life. Who knows? Who judges?
Who cares? Respect, be respected.

Death’s procession grows longer. Grows ever longer. Gradually. Who can stop death?
Love? Or hatred?
At whose ceaseless beckoning does it come?
Hatred’s? Or unlove’s? Only death is truth. Yet we forget it. Everything else is illusion. Still, we stay lost in them. Always. I am not in that procession. Why am I not there?
Or am I there, yet not there?
I kiss in deep embrace,
yet do not touch. Is this
it? I have not tasted touch, have only taken love or hatred,
neither of whom death gives a damn about. In the montage of dead thoughts, I the living survive on the mercy of the dead. In that procession? No!
Still hidden. What bliss!
Ah!

This is what I did not to be what I
did not want to be after completing B Sc in CSE from CUET. Now the question is,
how am I? Well, I’ve little time to judge as I’m busy enjoying my life. It’s
really tough to live someone else’s life.

……. I wish you could find it
out.

……. No sighs! Just explore
yourself and find it out!

……. I don’t hate females; I love
them all.

…….. Does it need expertise?

……. I’m dating with books,
movies, music.

……… My fantasies are quite happy indeed!
Why wouldn’t they be? They are far more real than reality itself!

……. Don’t just do mindless copy-paste without sources or addresses. Do whatever else you feel like doing.

…….. Writing this status doesn’t take any brains, you fool,
just having a broken heart is enough. Plus a pinch of bad-mood-type feeling.

…….. The gurus speak of unrighteousness too. The thing is, when we like it, we happily pass it off as righteousness.

……….. The exceptions are a bit too exceptional!

…….. Is there a shortage of research topics, friend, that you’re racking your brains over that brain-dead subject?

…….. And then Arindam thought silently………

……….. No brother, I sell life’s stories for a living. Stories have no end, that’s why I’m still searching for life’s meaning.

………… Not everyone is a mosquito (Masfi),
some poor souls are unfortunate (Bappi). The mosquitoes rule over the kingdom of the unfortunate.

……….. Not all beautiful young
ladies are dumb and stupid, some are married too…… Grrrrrrrr….

Stop it Sushanta! Peace! Or is it
time for us women to write this type of status about men!! Actually I am
wondering if handsome men have brains at all!

………… Please stop wondering,
masima! I never hide my profile picture!!

Despite all the “I’ll read it, I’ll read it” promises, so many books remain unread,
and among that pile lay
‘Gaddar’ by Krishen Chander. Giving the finger to my chronic procrastination, I poisoned this evening’s hours with ‘Gaddar’. While reading, it’s hard to keep one’s head straight—
love’s pathetic defeat at the hands of savagery burns all of existence’s arrogance to ashes. “The last name uttered from the lips of the dying was God’s. The killers too had His name on their lips. If there truly is some Creator above all these in the heavens,
then He is mocking this cruelty—of this I have no doubt.”
—– These words strike a piercing blow against time’s numb restlessness, their relevance rendering us equally helpless even today. Now I’ll begin
‘The Artist’s Tragedy.’ (Adwait Mallabarman’s translation of ‘Lust for Life,’ half-eaten like an apple, has been glaring at me with wide eyes for the past two days. Good intentions are abundant. Laziness is boundless! Let’s see!)

…………. Written by Mobashwer Ali.

Thanks for the suggestion.

‘People use flowers to tell far too many lies.’
They say, I love you, I’m here for you. And
many other such things. The establishment of falsehood is invariably alluring. How effortless it becomes when something or someone appears so innocent, so guileless, that lies are spoken through them or deeds are enacted in their name!
How disgracefully accustomed we have become to love’s shameless cosmopolitan face! How much does the flower’s fluent language of promise really seek out the warmth or coolness of the heart?

Yesterday’s three-and-a-half-hour whirlwind expedition at Ekushey Book Fair netted 41 books. I buy books selectively, read them even more selectively. Enthusiasm abundant, laziness immeasurable. On the flimsy oath that I’ll read it all someday, I spend my days touching books, flipping through them a bit, inhaling their scent. (Thick books make me feel tired. I have this strong urge to tear out a hundred pages from the middle to lighten them up a little.)

(Three and a half hours is far too little time for carefully selecting books at the book fair.)

……… I never finish them! I just set them aside. And consider myself a scholar. Absolutely true!

…….. You’ve done well. Better not to buy books than not to read them.

……… I’ve been bankrupt for ages now!

…….. Boss, if I get the time, I’ll lend you books.

……….. Did I say I wouldn’t give them as gifts?

………. That’s about as far as I can manage!

……….. The scriptures say that when you lend your wife or your books to others, they don’t remain intact / safe.

……… Does it need 5 minutes to buy a book?

…….. Hmmmm….. I was only trying to provoke envy!
