Bengali Poetry (Translated)

The Lifespan of Fate

No, you didn't keep me in your life.
Not as wife, not even as friend.

And what you did, you did right.

When I left, I knew
I would live on as your lifelong
fate,
wake as poetry,
rise as storm.

Had you not bid me farewell,
would you ever have learned
it takes breath to exhaust a lifetime?

So what you did, you did right.
