Bengali Poetry (Translated)

The Gods' House

When I imagine you beside me, I want to live for billions of years.
My mornings would begin seeing your face, my nights would end gazing at you.
Thinking of this, I feel that even billions of years become too brief—I need more time!

But whenever I think of life's winding path, where your road and mine
branch into separate alleys,
then I feel that even a single day of twenty-four hours stretches like billions of years...
I don't want to traverse this endless life.
One cannot walk so far carrying such weariness!

Believe me, I want only you—among seven and a half billion people, I want only you, this one person.

In the depths of your eyes, my longing to see the ocean will be fulfilled,
holding you close to my chest, I will have seen the entire world.
Even touching you lightly, I will feel the sacred joy of touching the divine threshold.

From one corner of this vast world, I need only one you—that would be enough.
Then I could easily live for billions of years.

Believe me, I want only you, only you—nothing else at all!
