The Birth of Poetry



Poetry that holds no scent of your body,
poetry that binds you in my restlessness
with such tangles of rules and restraint—
that poetry is sorrow to me;
I want to write that poetry no more.

You know this:
poetry never comes from stillness...
poetry comes only from restlessness.
