Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Terribly True

The chemistry that lives within my mind…
this new boy knows nothing of it.

The mystery that dwells within my gaze…
no one but you can even guess at it.

Only you know these things,
no one else.

I am so out of place beside you…
yet still,
when I touch your closed eyes—
with the carelessness of my disheveled hair…
somehow, you seek no other way.

Against one side of my chest I keep
your tender whispers—
just before my breath ran out entirely…
I told you, 'I love you!'
You were there through every inch of that touch.

If all of this is terribly true…
then how can you belong to someone else?
