Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Slicing through rusted iron

You vanished from sight so long ago!
But could you ever slip away from the mind?
Know this — though you defeated countless
age-old proverbs, you could never defeat me!

In the willing waters of desire's river,
though I never lost myself floating on rafts,
in happiness pierced by happiness's thorns
today, from this stifled drowsiness,
you still couldn't stop me!

The colors of fairy tales will fade, won't they!
Your thirst will surely drain the life from me, won't it!
Be one fool or wise, love's endless conversation will go on, won't it!

Even if I lost everything crying "I love you, I love you,"
piercing through that personal rusted iron called you,
trying to stop me from breaking apart,
you will be defeated again and again—
remember this much at least...in some fixed, pure understanding!
