Silent Pursuit

Play Title: Silent Summons

Genre: One-Act Play, Verse Drama

Characters:
"She" – (Woman, emotional, introspective, deeply in love)
"Hour" – (An uninvited visitor, like a soul or reflection of the heart)

[Scene 1 – Night, rooftop of a high-rise in the city, time: 3 AM]
Light mist surrounds the rooftop, distant silent city lights. "She" stands against the railing of the eighth floor.

She (in a slow voice, to herself):
I'm standing against the high railing of this eighth-floor rooftop... so carelessly.
In this cool wind, it feels like you're touching me...
Suddenly... I catch your scent.
Am I lost in deep imagination then?
Your fragrance makes my head spin...
You are my truth—the truest truth.
(Places one foot on the railing, types something on her phone)
If only this final wish could be sent to you...

[Suddenly, a visitor's voice is heard—"Hour"]

Hour (calmly):
Are you trying to call death closer?

She:
No. I'm trying to feel the one I love.

Hour:
Come away from there... look, this doesn't seem right.
Your pain has grown—I understand that.
But what good will this do?
Is he greater than your very life?

She (laughing, mockingly):
Ha ha ha! Who are you, brother? Don't lecture me so much.
I know what needs to be done.
Don't be an additional irritation.

Hour (still calm):
Though your timelines were different—
the friendship was unique.
Despite the age difference, there was no distance between souls.
From the first day, you could understand each other.

She (softening):
Yes...
But why are you listening?
You're an outsider!
Let me be alone for a while.

Hour:
What is the purpose of your life?

She (with a thin smile):
Living until this very moment.

[Scene 2 – Light becomes somewhat hazy, time has passed, wind has picked up]

She (angrily):
You talk too much.
Coming at three in the morning to annoy me!

Hour:
You are very enchanting. Beautiful.

She (startled):
Someone very close to me said exactly these words...
He was my dearest.
My heart still searches for him.
If he were here, there wouldn't be so much pain.

Hour:
Why isn't he here today?
Can't you get him back even with one last try?

She:
There was no relationship between us.
Love is never bound by ties.
He knows that I love him.
His being away hurts me, yet also brings me peace.

[Sudden silence, "She" falls quiet. The wind seems to stop.]

Hour (tears in eyes, softly):
Why aren't you speaking?
Hey...!

She (in slow voice, becoming unclear):
Someone seems to be saying something...
I can't hear anything anymore.
Even with closed eyes... you exist in my tears.

(Pausing briefly)
I want to embrace you once.
Will you come? Will you touch me once?
I know you won't find peace...
I've heard that the dead remain beyond feeling.

I'm so bloodied...
Have the courage to embrace me once more!
Will I never hear that call again—'Crazy girl, listen'?

[Light is dimming. Soft instrumental plays - "Where Do I Begin"]

She (eyes closed, in a weary voice):
This song was your favorite too…
Music used to bridge our distance.
I can't think of anything anymore.
My eyelids are growing heavy.
I brought white roses for you…
Someone will deliver them to you.

Look for them there—
some moments we kept hidden…
My final touch remains in them.

[Final scene – Slowly fades out, camera gradually moves from the rooftop toward the sky. Rose petals drift in the wind...]

[Soft voiceover in the background – Hour's voice]
"Love never dies, it only changes form…"

(End)
