Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Remaining

How strangely time passes!
You were beside me, yet not there;
I was beside you, yet not there.

Two restless hearts beating as one.
We both thought—
what happened, happened;
layer upon layer of that path
held traps, quicksand;
yet there was no way back.

You lost your way;
I lost mine too.

Two of us, two directions...
still alive today!
Where shall we go now?
Where can we go to feel a little alive?

That day at the bend in the road
where our two paths curved apart—
that bend vanished long ago!

Still we keep searching for something!
Both of us here, in passionless non-existence.
Together, yet...in the distance of endless seeking!
Is dream a monument? We merely grope about.

Does flowing time
heal the heart's wounds?
If that were so,
why are you still here, yet not here?
Why am I still here, yet not here?
