how silently distance

Do you notice
how my breath catches now
in the burnt scent of my mind?

Perhaps you don't—
otherwise you wouldn't be quite so cruel!

2. You were never good at acting before, nor are you now.
Despite a hundred attempts

yet your eyes spoke a thousand words.
Now you speak,
but why do those same eyes seem so lifeless?
