Death knows no religion,
Death knows no holy book,
Death knows only human beings.
Death recognizes no believer,
Death recognizes no atheist,
Death recognizes only human beings.
Alas, only humans still cannot see humans.
Death cares nothing for faith,
Death cares nothing for faithlessness,
Death cares only for cause.
Death gives not a damn for any political slogan,
Death gives not a damn for any leader's lies,
Death gives a damn only for cause.
Still, we continue playing dice with approaching death.
Death has no favored country.
Death has no favored race.
Death has no favored rules.
Death doesn't care a whit for sin or virtue.
Death has no wrong time, death has no bad time.
In death's grammar, nothing comes before or after time.
We have a kind of festival going on.
Some of us are busy with explanations.
Some of us are happy in argument.
Some of us are drowning neck-deep in ego.
Some of us are absorbed in laughter and jokes.
We're watching what happens to them.
We're thinking nothing will happen to me.
We're hearing—they're lying!
We're fine, we remain reassured.
One God will protect us, so
we wait with the guarantee of natural death in our heads.
Seeing them die, we said, "People are dying!"
...as if we weren't people at all!
Alas, today a senseless disease has made us human too!
Those whom death hasn't yet beckoned with a gesture
remain cool, untroubled.
Those to whose homes death hasn't brought fresh news
still make sport of others' deaths.
There are some deaths that make doctors frown.
Seeing such deaths, some religious merchants frown.
Our earlier deaths had no friends.
Our today's death has nothing but one friend.
What we've never seen,
we never think about.
Even so unburdened, we go on living!
At day's end, the last day will arrive too soon!
All the frowns will retreat into hiding,
and before us will lie one living truth alone—death!
Only truth laughs
