Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Now fall asleep

Still awake? Won't you sleep?
Going to bed so late like this,
do you forget that yours too is a human body?

How will you survive on so little sleep?
For now, let it pass, this young body…
But in a few more years, you'll see
you're aging twice as fast!
Even thinking of this frightens me, you know?

If you stay well, with a healthy body
you'll conquer the world with a smile, I know you will!
You're pushing this body beyond the mind's limits…
When did you last stand before a mirror and truly see yourself?

Don't be angry, I only want you to stay well.
Even a killer wants his beloved to be safe!
To keep his beloved safe, even a beggar
gives away his last penny with a smile.

I may be worthless, useless, failed, the lowest creature!
Yet still I love you!
Seeing you well fills me with such joy.

How can I accept, tell me,
that the one I love has become a star in the sky before me?
If someday I truly have to search for you
up there among the crowded stars, what greater curse could there be?

My magician, stay awake no more, fall asleep.
It really is very late!
