Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Night's Voice

1.

: The rain came because you didn't.
: When did the rain come?
: You won't be able to see it anymore.

2.

: Why do we start life only to stop it halfway?
: People must stop, even life must stop.

3.

: Did you cross a vast ocean to get here?
: No, I fought with this small heart.

4.

: I love you so much, you know?
: No, you don't love me anymore; when you did, I knew it well enough.

5.

: Does everything really work out in the end?
: No, whatever happens, we're forced to accept it as right at day's end.

6.

: Do you have much sorrow?
: No, I have two or three joys as well—I could count them for you.

7.

: Why didn't you love me?
: No one has ever loved me, so I don't know that love must be spoken aloud.

8.

: Are you free around Sunday?
: All days are the same to me. You can come any day and leave your sorrow—no need to worry about which day.

9.

: I feel terribly restless sometimes, you know?
: I know, around midnight, right?
: How did you know!?
: Some questions must be avoided.

10.

: Tell me your new address?
: Will you really come? Really?
: I'm asking so I'll never accidentally set foot in that direction.
