Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Melancholy Beautiful

I had such longing—
to love you well...
Together we'd have built a home of joy,
with you beside me, all my life would pass in bliss.
I'd keep you close and sheltered, weave garlands with tender care,
in prayer seek only you, worship the lord of my heart...
Truly, such longing I had!

But cursed fate intervened,
lost on the path, destiny's unyielding hand
stopped me on the wrong road entirely.
Now this life of mine hangs by a thread...
All my yearning, like fallen dust
scattered beneath flame trees—a melancholy beauty!
