Love Is Not, Peace Is

Stay as you are, let the other person remain exactly as they are. People don't change—they only pretend to change. Know this: if there is mutual respect and understanding, you can maintain any kind of relationship with someone of entirely different mental makeup. Even with someone who doesn't think like you at all, you can travel a long way together with ease and peace. Truly, you can—without the slightest difficulty.

Do you know when real love comes? When someone remains completely willing to accept you exactly as you are, even after you stay true to yourself. When you don't have to present yourself according to someone else's preferences. When you don't have to resort to pretense just to please another's heart.

By showing what you are not, you will never find love. And if you begin that way, you will inevitably suffer later. However you are as a person, however you are as a companion—whoever can accept that and remain happy will be the one with whom you feel most at ease. This is where the magic of love lies!

Love knocks at everyone's door. Either we're not ready to open it, or we're too busy organizing our lives—so we don't even hear that sound. But this too serves a purpose. Life is greater than love.

Yes, this is why most love stories remain just stories in the end. Life is no simple thing, and love is an even more terrifyingly difficult matter!

Most of the time we mistake the wrong person for the magic our life needs. Yet the whole affair ends only in tragedy. This happens quite frequently. Then life must be rebuilt again—there's nothing else to be done!

But recovering from this ordeal is truly, truly difficult. So rather than living in hope of love, it's much better to seek peace. The person who gives peace—they are exactly the right person for us. We'll take peace, we'll give peace... perhaps we won't find love, but we'll live quite happily nonetheless. Love is necessary for living, but peace is indispensable!
