When did we first lose our WOW? Perhaps it was the price of civilization. What a terrible trade—that sudden burst of childlike laughter when a red ladybug climbs up a child's hand, or the joy of jumping into muddy water—exchanged for restrained smiles and the pretense of "fitting in" with feigned politeness.
When did kisses on the forehead and embraces at bedtime become merely curling up to sleep? When did we begin sacrificing ourselves to the god of "what will others think"? If this is what they call growing up, I want no part of it. Give me a mischievous ladybug, and I'm heading straight for the mud puddles.
The good news is—there's a truth that frees us from all social constraints. Those who find it are truly blessed. And those who say "there's nothing to find" perhaps never felt crushed by society's weight. But for us, discovering that truth means finding a precious pearl.
In truth, WOW is always sitting on the porch of our minds—Wisdom, Optimism, Wellness. With each breath, they silently invite us—to silence the roar of fear and doubt, and bring us back to the taste of life, Living @ WOW!
Mother Teresa once said—"Prayer is talking to God, meditation is listening to God." How beautiful!
But hidden in the darkness of fear and doubt, we cannot hear that gentle, truth-telling voice. How then can we hear it?—by sitting on that front porch, swaying in the rocking chair, letting our breath find its ease.
