Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Keep the window open

Now my time has changed completely, root and branch!
The whole day long, time has granted me
only to think of you...endlessly!

Now I have endless leisure hours
to gaze at the sky!
The moon's solace, night's darkness, the sun's fury...
all colors will fade, surely
...such fairy tales!

I must lose myself utterly in you, water-wanderer.
In one dive I'll descend into the water, merge within you...
Today I give you my solemn word!

If someday in a whimsical brown-tinted afternoon,
standing by the wet window, gripping the grille,
tears fall torrentially at such an untimely hour,
then know that I will return, just as promised,
only for you at such a time...
Will you remember to keep that window open that day?
