Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Invocation to Kali

At your feet I seek refuge, O merciful Mahakali!
In my heart's vessel, all your flames—kindle them today, Mother!

Banish all darkness,
transform the host of enemies,
pour your nectar into this thirsting soul...don't withhold it, Mother!

This bewitching body of illusion—shatter it, Mother, with your own footfall,
awaken the sleeping Shiva within me—with your blazing compassion's grace.

Crying out to you in anguish,
give me the life of light, O Mother,
in my heart's bud, at this very moment, I arrange death's worship-tray.
