Bengali Poetry (Translated)

In the Reign of Dreams

All the songs I have sung in this life
to the ear of night, they all fly toward you
into some nameless country.

All the stars spread their wings in the heart's solitude,
all of them weave enchantments of dream
through my lonely days,
through my secluded, spellbound hours.

You will never know how
the shadows of sal and tamal trees—
the magic that deepens in blue groves, ah…
all that radiance descends
into your bewildered eyes…before me!

Those vast gestures of weariness,
if I glimpse them in some moment, and they find their voice,
then I sing my songs
beneath night's darkness, perhaps
this life will fill
with dark-blue dreams!
