Bengali Poetry (Translated)

In desire's enchantment, trembling

If death should ever come,
come and stand waiting
just beyond this door,
if death should say in its cool voice,
the time has come, now let us go!

Even then I will see death and raise my hand
to stop it. I will make it pause and cry out boldly,
Stop right there! Don't come closer! Not just yet!
I still have more to see of my beloved!

Having seen you so much, still my longing remains unsated!
With these dust-stained eyes I'll keep watching the bend in the road,
waiting for you I'll stay awake even when death comes!
