Bengali Poetry (Translated)

If We Ever Meet

The wounded bird from your heart's cage—
came to me today,
a note tied to the corner of its beak...
All this while I've been reading that letter!

I've heard you've changed,
only you wouldn't let me erase—
my reflection drawn upon your heart.

Along some shadowy path—
you came to me in silence,
perhaps not to be bound by approaching enchantment...
only to let me know—
you are well.

I have not been spent...
I wait for you each day,
if ever we should meet—
don't hide your smile from me.
