Bengali Poetry (Translated)

From Gaze to the Eternal

I asked for rain—
and you placed an embargo on my tears?

I asked for time—
and you wanted my torn heart instead?

I thought all my grievances were futile—
and you gave me precedence?

I wanted to write about you—
and you began dwelling so deeply across my being?

I bid farewell—
and you bound me so tightly in your profound embrace?

I asked for a promise—
and you touched your lips to this worm-eaten, lifeless body?

I wanted to love—
and you searched for yourself within me?
