Bengali Poetry (Translated)

False Dreams

All for the best that you drove away these idle fantasies for good,
All for the best that the morning and evening hum just stopped, carelessly,
All for the best that you lessened the needless, unwanted crowd of dreams,
All for the best that you changed the place of being well in an instant.

Tell me, how many truly dwell in the house of their own dreams?
In such broken love and longing...can there ever be a home?

You've moved away, and rightly so.
But why, even in your distance, do you remain so near?
Could it be that some people, even when they leave,
never become strangers till death?

Not having you, yet having gained so much,
I've come to understand—
Life is nothing but a false-false dream,
Dreams are nothing but a true-true life!
