Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Face to Face with My Face

Every moment of my entire day,
every long watch of the night,
surrounding all that I am, completely,
you remain there, touching only me.

My reckless fragments of spoken excuses,
along with words I long to know but keep forbidden,
from beginning to end...through it all,
you have merged, touching my very self.

My prayer to find you even beyond centuries,
and those paused, reasonless moments,
making mistakes again and again, then trying to reconcile—
you remain, touching the whole of my journey through time.

The fragments of memory I simply cannot forget,
and the dust-gathering doorways of my heart,
keeping everything exactly as it is,
you remain, wrapped around the courtyard of my eyes.
