Yes, so much comes into being through these... When someone turns off the room's light, picks up the scattered debris from the floor and tosses it in the bin, speaks with a smile to the disabled person in the room, folds and puts away their clothes. When someone goes and sits beside the helpless person from time to time, listens patiently to their wearisome stories again and again. When someone acts not on whim or hearsay, but with deliberation. When someone tells everyone the true story, when someone expresses gratitude to a benefactor, when someone gives proper recognition for work done. When someone says 'Good morning' or 'Good night' to someone who likes them or who wants to hear it from them. When someone restrains their own greed, when someone keeps their temper in check. When someone wipes the sweat from an elderly person's face with a tissue, when someone walking down the street looks at other pedestrians with respectful eyes. When someone makes the bed at night, hangs up the mosquito net, cleans the bathroom. When someone tips the waiter, gives a little money to the house help when the cooking turns out well. When someone takes time to call a sick person, visits with some fruit in hand when they get the chance. When someone sends flowers with love, when someone remembers to send some very small gift. When someone congratulates another on their success, when someone feels joy at a friend's progress, when someone values good work. When someone takes the consequences of their actions in stride, when someone can state their position with a firm voice. When someone stands up for the oppressed, when someone extends a helping hand. When someone knows when to be first or last, when someone accepts the smaller portion for themselves, giving up the larger one. When someone brings even one child into the light of education. When someone stays beside the dying with tenderness, serves the sick, applies even a little balm of comfort to wounds, wipes away tears, shows the way to those who are lost, keeps company with the lonely. Truly these small things too carry great meaning. Most importantly, what we often forget—the things in this world for which one could welcome even death with a smile, those very things escape our notice so easily! In this brief life, these deeds done in secret from the whole world are what keep humanity living in happiness. No one knows of some of your such deeds, no one sees them; yet it is those very deeds that reveal the whole of life.
Even in all of this, so much comes through...
