Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Destination

Right beside me,
I feel your entire body.
Each muscle of yours
like glowing embers
burns me alive.
Those very muscles in that moment
become fresh and inevitable,
weaving a smooth honeyed bridge—
to connect my soul
with myself.

Only in this single moment
does flesh unite with spirit,
and they feel
each other,
this divine transformation endures at last
and they move forward together at the same pace;
like a mountain stream flowing
from source toward level ground.

I find your lips upon my lips,
feel your naked yearning skin,
and finally I am touched by
that sudden eternal freshness,
where the body stops its burning,
which remains unspoken until it stops...

Sinking into this infinite intimacy
when the mind sends all our flesh—
yours and mine—to rest in weary bodies,
it seems then
that essentially, each aroused muscle dissolves into spirit
and sleeps in peace.
