Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Defiance of God

1.
We are the force of evil,
forever devoted to our wrongdoing.
Hatred and malice are our nature,
our religion is others' ruin;
we know neither reverence nor humble devotion.
We lead humanity always astray,
do everything from petty self-interest,
awaken in human hearts a craving for unrest.

2.
God-defiant am I, sinner, I am drunk with power,
I crush the weak, remain addicted to corruption.
Demon am I, keeping all under my rule,
I terrorize the gods with oppression;
I am the evildoer, forever devoted to injustice.

3.
Blood-thirsty demon am I...demon,
with fierce dominance all are under my sway.
Frenzied am I, terribly greedy,
tyrant, merciless and wrathful;
to quench my thirst I drink everyone's life essence.

4.
I who am a ghoul, born in the great vileness of sin,
frenzied in desire's flames, I perform obscene deeds.
In crushed and rotted matter lies my satisfaction,
with age I increase sin's dominion;
in disease, sorrow, and suffering I have built my faith.
Hell is my pleasure ground, I love hell,
in injustice and oppression I make truth homeless.
With filth and poison filled is the core of my vile age;
wherever there are sewers—reeking with putrid stench,
dwelling there brings great joy to this heart of mine.
