Bengali Poetry

Come, listen close

A storm is raging through my chest, Anindya,
if you lean close, you'll hear it!
Come to me, listen.

I've been walking through dreams for thousands of miles,
but nowhere do I catch a glimpse of you!
Where are you hiding, Anindya?

Tell me your address,
I'll reach you this instant.
I can bear no more delay.
Tell me, don't you ever feel
like seeing me, even once, Anindya?

Give me the address while there's still daylight,
the day keeps fading, and my fear keeps growing—
if I lose you in the darkness, where will I find you then?

These tears rolling down the cheeks of my anguish without you,
won't you ever want to know their story?

I could gather all my tears and with that water
build a great pond.
Or wouldn't a pond suffice?
Do you want to see a vast ocean of salt water, Anindya?
