Bonsai of Thoughts (Translated)

Bonsai of Thoughts: Twenty-Seven

1. I no longer love you,
I only fear you!
Are you happy now?

2. Try as I might,
I simply cannot live with ease!
O God!
Grant me at least a simple death without struggle!

3. My beloved accepted me
on the third day of our meeting,
rather than turning me away!

Surely you know,
this world lasts but two days!

4. Many of you think
I sleep with two pillows
merely to ease the ache in my neck!

Have you never wept?
Then why do you still live!

5. I do love you still today!
But the tenderness is gone!
Now you can sleep with a peaceful mind!

6. O God!
Either heal the wound,
or grant me release!

7. Rather than snatching away my pen, simply say
you can no longer bear my existence!

8. What use are eyes
that shed no blood when pierced?
Where lies the worth of one
whose arterial blood refuses to turn to water?

9. Break the temples, go ahead and break them!
But do not shatter the heart—
for God dwells there!

10. How gently I hold even the thorn's body,
while others grasp flowers by the throat!

11. Ah, what freedom this is!
When you too abandoned me,
I abandoned myself as well!

12. People only praise the picture hung on the wall!
No one ever mentions the nail!

13. Today is your turn,
tomorrow my anguish!

14. If you wish to drown,
then drown in such a way
that not even the waves are disturbed!
Some live by watching the waves alone!

15. Does love or death... do they understand age?
Does the heart know decay... does it measure time as it flows?

16. Now that you have stolen my very life,
would you let me die if I wished!?

17. When these two lips tremble
at the urgency of your name,
I never let my eyes meet another's
for fear of forbidden joy.

18. How does one who never feels sorrow
fall in love?
One whose peace remains unfound—
how much does such a one die in love?

19. Someone cries out even slightly in anguish
and stands in the dock!
Someone else drives a knife into their chest with a smile
and tramples the dock underfoot!

20. Do not think what remains unseen
awakens thirst!
Of all I have witnessed,
how little actually quenches thirst!
