Bonsai of Thoughts (Translated)

Bonsai of Thoughts: Twenty-Four

1. If I were to lose you!
...This fear itself is prison!

2. I loved you,
you returned it.
I gave you a chance,
you seized it!

3. You alone will remain, see!
Though I couldn't love you,
I've grown quite used to you!

4. There is no torment at all,
I find joy always!
The one I love,
everyone loves!

5. The moon adorns the sky above,
the heart finds solace beholding it,
nothing more, gently for its sake
the thirsty-eyed partridge yearns.

6. Just as when one beholds a flower in the grove
the heart naturally loves it,
so too upon seeing you
how can one help but love!

7. Within the sand a river
flows endlessly,
the play of waves
impossible to fathom!

8. With silent lips
through crowds of obstacles,
even in the laughter of eyes
wounds run deep;
seeing which we
grow rather irritated!

Yet for the one who bears all this in their form,
the price of relationship weighs heaviest upon them!

9. Are you measuring my love by your jealousy, friend?
In my desire your very scales will burn to ash!

10. Hearing my poetry, she burst into tears!
'Someone take that pen away from her!
She's destroying herself!'

11. Though I searched your heart thoroughly,
I found no one there but you!
When then will you truly love me?

12. How far are you prepared to go to have me?
One who pays no heed to their own boundaries—
you're the one trying to teach them limits!

13. Snake!
Even today you haven't become civilized!
You never came to the city,
how could you become civilized anyway!

Let me ask you something...
If you never became civilized,
how did you learn to bite?
And where did you get your poison!

14. What do you see so much in the mirror, friend?
Are you more beautiful than yourself?

15. Why have you been silent these few days?
I'm not silent, friend! I'm talking with God!

16. I don't read books anymore,
papers lie idle on the table.
At night I think of you for a while,
and in that the work of knowing myself gets done!

17. Those who cry these days
don't know how to cry!
They seek excuses to weep,
even crying hard they don't find themselves!

18. This cool night perhaps
will bring sleep to both eyes!
If you were beside me today
I would have burned the whole night away!

19. Days come,
and go too!
Only this stone
doesn't go!

20. All that were my dreams,
I changed them all!
Suddenly I see,
the one for whom I changed—
has vanished!
