Bonsai of Thoughts (Translated)

Bonsai of Thoughts: Eighty-One

1. In the mist-body of the mirror,
a name written
long ago
becomes clear again.

2. Those who rage
at seeing others succeed
cannot succeed themselves.

3. Two kinds of government employees:
servants of the people,
servants of the boss.

4. The girl's body trembles,
yet her mind does not.

5. In your eyes
I see neither you
nor me,
but sky.

6. Rain in spring!
One branch of the tree
scolds another!

7. Some winds
are vaster
than the plains themselves!

8. At twilight
elephants
break the river.

9. Even before sunrise
the white lotus
has its own color.

10. The company of the dead
comes home
when rain falls.

11. Inside, deeper inside...
until at last
the teeth burst into flame!

12. Waiting...
to become again;
before that
let a little more rain fall!

13. Two figures bathe
in the lake's water,
the sun of day
rises even at night.

14. The moon rises...
in the stone goddess's hand
the earth's death.

15. The story is glass,
the victory is stone.

16. On the veranda
the dead cat's
face...still open...
toward the rain.

17. Somewhere behind me,
against the body of dark silence
the words weep.

18. When the chick emerges
the egg transforms
into shell.

19. In the ocean's depths
schools of sharks
circle like boats.

20. The wild goose's call
comes floating from afar,
carving doors in mirrors.
