Bengali Poetry (Translated)

Birds of Paradise in the Forest of Dreams

A boy, utterly absent-minded,
constantly, in pattern and chaos, circles through the heart…and returns.

Each day, he grows a little older…
in the joy of drawing a little closer.

And a girl falls headlong into love…
with the boy's scattered, rambling words.

Love gets tangled in one foolish boyishness.
The distant boy, caring just a bit more, keeps coming and going in the mind's chambers.

Loving a little more, the urge to sing grows stronger,
clutching wildness, the wild goose's wild love grows a little more.

However much sorrow gathers, it grows in the neighbor's courtyard…
while here, love survives in one melodious stream of music.

With two coins the boy and girl suddenly buy pearls…
while there, with golden thread the dreambird of the enchanted forest strings a garland.
