Love needs a certain mystical silence to become true love,
Why does everyone crave it so desperately?
Love, that's what they want, isn't it? Tell me.
Every yearning of the thirsting heart circles around that love!
In love there is no 'I' or 'you'—only 'us' remains.
Before the one we love, all our 'I's disappear!
In the temple within the mind, its doors open for love's daily worship with the heart,
Look and see how pure this heart's love is!
This world, that world—love's key alone unlocks both realms!
My living, my walking grew strong from that day
when you gifted me love.
I never knew love could shed such tears!
I know there's fire in my heart, and in that fire, since creation, rain burns!
This heart has lost its way in your enchantment,
Even my soul follows the heart's path—I've simply become helpless.
Those who walk that path know life only through love,
Their journey ends only when they find love!
What is all this, why does it happen—no one seems to want to know,
This mystery has no questions or answers.
A heart floating in love is like a wounded bird, I know!
Love's path has no end,
If walking frightens you, stay far away.
If you learn life through this pretext,
You'll receive back manifold whatever you give.
One who stays distant from love, lost in life's illusions,
Will burn in fate's fire their whole life long.
When love enters the lover's mind,
That moment is truly auspicious!
If the heart burns to ash in hope of the beloved,
Peace retreats, bringing turmoil and restlessness.
Your first step into love's boundless field—
Either die, or cross each obstacle one by one.
Burn, and see, understand
how love's light blazes in the heart!
When you burn in fire, become ash or dust,
Then dance as you wish in sunlight's radiant glow.
In love—
Old or young, the same person,
Profit or loss, the same account,
Both worlds, one world,
Autumn or spring, the same season,
Rising or falling, the same direction.........
What rises falls, what falls rises,
World and heaven, the same destination!
Coming to measure love's circle, its circumference,
I see the same sorrow everywhere, the same joy too!
Whether the beloved draws near or pushes away,
The beloved still feels the same!
Even dying in love seems like living eternally!
This world is like a coffin, a closed box,
We're trapped inside, not even knowing it,
The darkness of ignorance and the coffin's darkness are the same darkness,
Taking foolishness for the right path, we live as we please in this constructed world.
When death comes, it lifts the coffin lid,
Whoever has wings flies away,
toward eternity. Those who never learned to fly remain in the coffin chamber.
So learn to fly, so when death comes you can soar like a bird,
Learn to craft wings and feathers in that temple within your heart.
Dense darkness conceals that beauty which stays hidden,
In that beauty, in that light, mystery lives—
No one sees it, for it sleeps when night falls!
One enslaved to night stays far from light,
One who masters day stays far from darkness,
Light or dark, where is liberation—who knows?
The path is long. Who walks understands. Who knows how to walk
values light and darkness equally.
Sometimes love simply cannot be seen.
What cannot be seen—does it not exist then?
Heavenly or earthly, what we love lives in the heart,
If it has no place elsewhere, it dwells in the heart.
We sit beside a high wall
Praying toward the stars in light reflected from that wall.
We're grateful to every brick, stone, grain of sand in the wall,
Yet we never even think of the sun that gives the wall its light!
What I've been seeking since life's beginning,
Today I've found! That enchantment, that beauty, that dream
is now in my home.
I couldn't find you before
because my eyes shone too bright—brighter than your light.
Now that I've gone blind, I've found you!
The more I showed my love, the farther you moved away,
The moment my heart grasped that love, you appeared in my home!
I tried to make garden flowers bloom to enchant people—the flowers wouldn't bloom!
I myself was enchanted by garden flowers, and see—the garden fills with flowering stars!
No house is ever truly home where you are not, beloved!
Either come to this house, or call me to that one.
If you do nothing and stay silent, I'll have to leave both houses!
Years turned, I kept looking at other mirrors; later I understood,
I'd given away this heart while dreaming, and waking, I searched the world for mirrors,
While my own mirror lay buried in dust, neglected and ignored.
Love, make me happy, I can't cry anymore,
See this heart, bind it tenderly, I can't play with fate anymore!
Show me your face, beloved, astonish me, intoxicate me more,
So much exists in this world, yet life drowns in the quicksand of one face!
Because I don't see you, all belief lives as disbelief,
When you come near, I somehow believe the unbelievable,
If not to wipe away tears, come at least once to shake my faith, O beloved!
How quickly this life fades! Comes in a flash, goes in another flash!
Like a gust of wind that vanishes in the distance before it even blows!
Just as a bird leaves its cage when the time comes,
So does this life, a momentary guest, race from the body in an instant!
Life is like a field that grows crops and also destroys some!
I believe in love, so I need no additional religion.
Every vein in my body trembles with love, with compassion—what use are prayer beads to me?
One who has died of love has no cure for that disease,
They revive at the beloved's touch, or easily die without it.
