After Getting the Job

 I finally got the job. Today I feel like saying a few things, to myself!
  
 Congratulations! You've grown up now! Yes, officially!
  
 From now on begins your time of bearing hardships; the time of causing them ends today.
  
 When you go somewhere, you won't have to worry about expenses anymore. When you sit down to eat somewhere and the bill comes, you won't have to look away anymore, or pretend to talk on your phone, acting out fake conversations to escape. You can now take on a good portion of the household expenses.
  
 Learn to save money. Don't buy what you don't need... No one else will tell you these things anymore. But you'll understand just fine that these words carry deep meaning. How quickly a salary disappears—you'll discover this for yourself now. The resentment toward your father will fade away.
  
 Put your first month's salary into your mother's hands. She won't want to take it, not at all, so buy her something then—something she's needed for a long time. Look and see what your mother needs. You've probably never looked before, have you?
  
 Your mother will be so happy. Seeing her smile, you'll think then that even if nothing else matters, this job was necessary if only for that smile!
  
 Now that you have a job, you can't ask your father for money anymore. You'll see—it will feel deeply embarrassing to ask. Your father won't say no if you ask, but hesitation will work within you. You'll feel something strange! You yourself don't know that today you've truly grown up!
  
 You'll start saving money to buy an expensive phone. When your little sister needs something, you'll say on your own—no need to tell Dad, tell me what you need, I'll buy it for you. You won't be able to believe your own ears that you can say such things today! You too have a strong pair of legs to stand on. It will feel truly wonderful.
  
 Today you'll understand why people get upset when a national holiday falls on a weekend! When your rightful day off doesn't mean an extra day off, how annoying it feels—now you'll understand this yourself!
  
 Now you won't need anyone to wake you up in the morning; that's one less job for your mother from now on. Now you don't even need an alarm clock. Now you have responsibility, now you understand the value of time.
  
 Suddenly, now that you've gotten this job, you'll feel a little afraid, a little happy, a little proud; life itself will feel fresh and new. This happens to everyone. The whole business of having a job is just that strange!
