A Birthday Carol

Long, long ago---the greatest show began!
Deep within the dark womb,
a mother cradled joy.
A small life set forth on its journey here.

Summers---one dissolving into another;
they guided your crawl to an upright stride.
The gentle days of ripening fruit became stories to cherish.
Sweet summers---arriving, departing,
watching you live, smile, dance, and
teach them to walk straight with honour, as
life masked---life squandered.

Each rain that fell---left dreams of rainbows,
touching the souls around, softening the earth.
Drizzles---those charms---stir memory awake. O Memory!
Rains will fall---countless times,
and so will you---the lives.
Knowledge falls like droplets---always---upon you, with you, for you.

Shy autumn days caressed,
with white tenderness.
Ah! Gone the fair Kans Grass!
Autumns approaching---waving, drifting gently,
bearing the sighs of blessing from God.
Good be with you---now, always.

Late autumn's graces---
a word of love;
a glimmer of hope, dwelling in
the autumns yet unseen.
Open your heart, hold all things close.

Many a winter, together with
the scent of pie, the misty breath,
makes you gently bold.
Even unruly winters wait, wait, and wait,
bowing low before your eternal life---theirs a wait without end!

Springs drift and drift---
bearing colourful dreams and light.
Dreams are life, life is dreams.
More springs, more---destined for you,
singing in glory---at your front, your back.

Always be the very you that you wish to be---whether others mind or not.
I was born, I'm born, I'll be born, to stay your friend, and you will love me.

Thus far, to you all, I offer my fond address, only because you came this day.
